Submit NLT October 1, 2024
Here are some helpful updates:
- Learn more about the opportunity, view FAQs, and apply via https://www.energywerx.org/itac.
- Eligible SMMs can now receive a maximum of $300,000 of funding per grant and not per manufacturer or per round. Multiple grants per quarterly round are allowable, provided each grant is dedicated solely to a unique project recommendation from a qualifying assessment. There is no limit to the number of grants per funding round per applicant, provided each assessment recommendation has not been previously funded.
- You can now find a sample “good application” for a grant, to model applications off of, here. You can also find tips for strong applications in slide 11 of the slide deck.
- You can see a full list of awards so far here – including location, project type, and dollar amount – which should give you a sense of the breadth of funded projects. Slide 9 of the downloadable slide deck also has a snapshot at the awards so far.
- Cold storage, food processing, and composting have recently been clarified to be manufacturing and therefore eligible for grant funding.

Supported by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and administered by the DOE’s Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains, the Industrial Training and Assessment Centers (ITAC) Implementation Grants program provides grants of up to $300,000 per project, with 50% cost share, to implement project recommendations made by DOE and other qualified energy assessments. These projects are meant to improve energy and material efficiency, enhance cybersecurity, increase productivity, deploy smart and advanced manufacturing technologies, and reduce waste and pollution at SMM facilities.
Eligible applicants include small- and medium-sized manufacturing firms, water treatment facilities, and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) facilities. In contrast to traditional DOE funding opportunities, the ITAC grant program works through a Partnership Intermediary Agreement, called ENERGYWERX, resulting in a very simple and straightforward application form and process via Submittable.com.
