Officials to announce solar energy initiative for Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) — Maryland officials are announcing an agreement aimed at increasing access to solar energy for low-income homes in Baltimore.Reps. John Sarbanes and Elijah Cummings will announce the agreement on Tuesday in Baltimore.The agreement is between the U.S. Department of Energy, the Maryland Clean Energy Center and the city.Officials say it will improve access to home weatherization and help lower energy bills.
The say it also will support job training for unemployed and underemployed community members to become a part of the renewable energy industry workforce.The announcement will include a live solar installation led by the nonprofit GRID Alternative.
