August & September Energy Legislation

Sept. 9 – S. 2742: Protect Consumers from Reallocation Costs Act of 2025

Introduced by Sen. Mike Lee [R-UT], this bill would amend the Clean Air Act to prohibit the reallocation of applicable columns for small refineries under the Renewable Fuel Standard, and for other purposes.

Sept. 9 – H.R. 5227: Unleashing Low-Cost Rural AI Act

Introduced by Rep. Jim Costa [D-CA21], this bill would conduct a study of the impact of artificial intelligence and data center site growth on energy supply resources in the United States, and for other purposes.

Sept. 8 – H.R. 5184: Affordable HOMES Act

Introduced by Rep. Erin Houchin [R-IN9], this bill would prohibit the Secretary of Energy from enforcing efficiency standards applicable to manufactured housing, and for other purposes.

Sept. 4 – H.R. 5141: Stop the Rate Hikes Act

Introduced by Rep. Josh Harder [D-CA9], this bill would amend the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 to require States to consider measures that limit the amount of rental utility rate increases a company can request to once every 365 days.

Sept. 16 – H.R. 5410: Critical Mineral Brine Extraction Research and Development Act

Introduced by Rep. David Schweikert [R-AZ1], this bill would direct the Secretary of Energy to support research and development on extraction of critical minerals from brine to reduce the dependence of the United States on the importation of such minerals, illustrating that innovative technology for domestic extraction could be a more cost efficient and environmentally friendly alternative than traditional extraction methods, and for other purposes.

Aug. 26 – H.R. 5042: Untitled

Introduced by Rep. Darrel Issa [R-CA48], this bill would define “showerhead for the purpose of determining the acceptable water pressure for a showerhead, and for other purposes.

Aug. 15 – H.R. 4990: Wildfire Grid Resiliency Act

Introduced by Rep. Norma Torres [D-CA35], this bill would direct the Secretary of Energy to carry out a demonstration for projects that improve electric grid resilience with respect to wildfires, and for other purposes.

Aug. 1 – H.R. 4835: Strategic Resources Non-discrimination Act

Introduced by Rep. Garland “Andy” Barr [R-KY6], this bill would amend the Defense Production Act of 1950 to prohibit discrimination based on energy source in the use of certain authorities under title I and title III of such Act, and for other purposes.
