The DC Economic Empowerment Playbook is organized into three parts, with each part building on the knowledge and information of BIPOC contractor development, business competencies, and economic growth in the green sector.
Part II – Economic Inclusion Opportunities in Building Sustainability
Guidance on core business competencies contractors need to strengthen and grow their businesses in the green building market. These core competencies include: using market research and strategies to assess the benefits of entering the sustainable building sector, identifying bonding and insurance as important risk management tools, and building a strong back office to bolster business capacity and credibility.
Part III – Advocacy as a Business Function
Policy recommendations and guidance on navigating DC’s government and legislative processes so contractors can advocate for a more inclusive green building sector.
The DMV region is making significant strides in the green economy through programs that support minority and women-owned contractors seeking to enter and grow within Washington, D.C.’s sustainable building sector. These efforts provide both economic opportunities and access to valuable resources and tools. To learn more about the latest developments, visit DMV Contractor Academy.
