Today marks a significant and frustrating pivot in the fight for a cleaner future.
This afternoon, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency rescinded its 2009 Endangerment Finding. This is the scientific bedrock that legally required the government to regulate greenhouse gases because they pose a threat to public health
By tossing this finding aside, the Trump administration is attempting to pull the plug on the standards that make electric vehicles more accessible and our air more breathable
Why This Matters to You
This isn’t about burdensome regulations and red tape, as the Trump administration claims. It’s a direct hit on the progress we’ve made together. This rollback aims to:

Stall EV Adoption: It removes the legal pressure on automakers to transition away from internal combustion engines.

Ignore Science: The science doesn’t change based on who is in office. Greenhouse gases impact our climate and our health, regardless of whether the EPA chooses to acknowledge it.

Threaten Innovation: While the rest of the world continues to move toward an electric future, this move risks leaving American innovation in the rearview mirror.
What You Can Do
Let’s not let this reckless decision go unchallenged. We encourage you to be louder than the fossil fuel industry lobbyists. We need you to dominate the conversation online.

The Bottom Line
The Electric Vehicle Association was founded on the idea that cleaner transportation is possible and should be accessible. One policy shift doesn’t change the fact that EVs are superior technology, better for the planet, and a joy to drive. The Trump administration can rescind a finding, but they can’t remove the millions of EVs already on the road…or the community behind them
Rest assured, the EVA and our national partners are already working to prevent the rollback. Grounded in scientific evidence, the Endangerment Finding has been repeatedly upheld by courts.
