AEE Managing Director Harrison Godfrey released the following statement about the Department of Energy announcement:
“These investments bring America a step closer to energy independence by helping to build a beginning-to-end energy storage supply chain in the U.S. from production and processing of these resources to the recycling of end productions. That’s essential if we are to become less reliant on global supply chains for building advanced energy technologies, like electric vehicles and long-duration storage facilities, and less reliant on fossil fuels.
“If we are serious about creating a full soup-to-nuts supply chain in the U.S. for EVs and other advanced energy technologies, then we need these newly announced projects to be just the appetizer. That’s why we are pleased to see that federal investments like these are already being met with commitments from major companies to build more EVs and EV batteries in the U.S. All this adds up to more American jobs and the beginning of a new age of manufacturing in the U.S.”
