Career Coach

Largo, MD

Salary Range: $58,000 – $61,250

 

We’re currently seeking passionate Career Coaches to serve within local school communities. In this role, you’ll provide hands-on career guidance, collaborate closely with school staff, and help students build the skills and confidence they need for life beyond graduation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group career coaching services to middle and high school students.
  • Collaborate with counseling teams to align services and integrate career programming into the school day
  • Guide students through career exploration, interest and aptitude assessments, and pathway planning.
  • Support students in identifying career pathways aligned with interests, strengths, and labor market demand.
  • Facilitate workshops, orientations, and presentations for students, families, and staff.
  • Engage parents and guardians in targeted career awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, preferred
  • Associate’s degree in Education, Business Management, Human Services, Human Resources, or related field; relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Two years of experience with youth in workforce development, education, or human services.
  • Strong coaching, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Experience delivering workshops and presentations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data or case management systems
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Experience in K-12 settings, preferred
Equipment Operator – Lead Equipment Operator

Derwood, MD

Salary Range: $24 – $34 an hour

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Equipment Operator, Senior Equipment Operator, or Lead Equipment Operator at our Harford County Solid Waste facility located in Street, MD. This position provides equipment operation services for MES clients at field locations.

Required Qualifications:

  • graduation from a standard high school or GED
  • ability to pass a standard physical examination
  • ability to lift 50 pounds
  • possession of a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
  • Class B CDL is required for this position.
  • one (1) year experience operating heavy equipment
  • the Senior EO is required to have three (3) years experience operating heavy equipment
  • the Lead EO is required to have five (5) years experience operating heavy equipment
Environmental Campaign Associate

Washington, DC

 

Salary: $38,250 and $44,450

Environment America is hiring Campaign Associates in cities across the country to lead our campaigns to protect our oceans and public lands, to organize support for clean energy solutions and to campaign for clean air and clean water.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reach out to a broad range of organizations and affected constituency groups across the political spectrum to demonstrate support for our campaign goals.
  •  Build broad public support for your campaign and recruit organizations and members of the public to be involved.
  • Organize webinars, community events and public meetings to educate, persuade, and motivate.
  • Organize media events and write opinion pieces. Build a following on social media for your campaign.
  • Meet with decision makers – from city council members to state legislators to members of Congress – to make the case for our campaign goals.
  • Help build your team by recruiting volunteers, interns and full-time staff.
  • Run a campaign office for the summer, knocking on doors to raise money to support our campaigns, build our organization and membership, and help build critical and timely grassroots support to win key campaigns.

Summer Trip Leader

Alexandria, Virginia

Salary: $185 – $235 per day

Wilderness Kids Alexandria (WKA) seeks experienced and thoughtful educators to co-lead one or more Summer Programs in summer 2026. Programs may include single-day outings and multi-day camping trips, up to 7 days long. Programs will all be based out of WKA offices in Alexandria, and will take place in natural areas throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Appalachia. Students on these trips are from grades 7 to 12.​

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively to organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities, including hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, crafts, art, singing, games, etc;
  • Plan and carry out safe, challenging and fun wilderness excursions;
  • Lead group chores with enthusiasm and detail;
  • Coordinate with Program Partners (e.g. Climbing or Paddling Guides) to assure a safe and fun experience for WKA students;
  • Supervise students in the preparation of three meals per day.
  • Model positive behavior as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct;
  • Model flexibility and resilience when plans shift due to unforeseen circumstances.;
  • Communicate regularly and clearly with students, co-leaders, and other WKA staff;
  • Solve problems proactively and collaboratively;
  • Ensure the sites that we visit are kept clean and organized, and left better than they were found.
  • Know, understand, and implement as needed all safety, risk management, and emergency procedures associated with the Program;

Required Qualifications:

  • Up to date First Aid and CPR/AED certification;
  • Experience working with young people, ideally in an outdoor setting, ideally with students of middle-school or high-school age;
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision;
  • Commitment to abide by and enforce WKA policies on youth safety, drug, alcohol and tobacco use;
  • Wilderness First Aid, or the willingness to get certified. Wilderness First Responder Certification strongly preferred;
  • Experience, lived or worked, among communities that have historically faced discrimination in the United States, including but not limited to BIPOC and immigrant communities;
  • B.A./B.S. degree, current enrollment in a 4-year degree program, or commensurate experience preferred, for Trip Leaders; High School diploma or G.E.D for Assistant Trip Leader or intern. Education, Environmental Science, Outdoor Ed and similar majors encouraged to apply;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Interest in learning and/or experience with outdoor activities (kayaking, climbing, camping, etc), games, music, and arts activities (visual, theater, etc.).
  • WKA staff lead and participate in activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, canoeing, swimming, backpacking, camping, kayaking, rock-climbing, team building initiatives, physical games, and activities.
