 MCGB Board of Directors Recruitment Deadline Extended

The deadline has been extended! The Montgomery County Green Bank is now accepting applications to fill vacant positions on its Board of Directors, with terms beginning on July 1, 2025. Interested candidates must submit an Expression of Interest form to hr@mcgreenbank.org by April 30, 2025.

 Decarb DC Higher Education
Cindy McCabe attended Decarb Higher Education on March 25, 2025, where she spoke on the panel, “Lessons Learned in Green Financing & Procurement.” The event brought together industry leaders to explore key topics such as compliance with D.C.’s BEPS, financing long-term sustainability initiatives, procurement best practices for decarbonization, and navigating policy under the new administration. It was a valuable opportunity to gain actionable insights and connect with leaders across higher education, corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors.
 UNC Cleantech Summit
Rokas Beresniovas attended the UNC Cleantech Summit on March 24-25, 2025, where he spoke on a panel alongside fellow clean energy leaders. The panel explored the differences between public and private green banking models and how these institutions collaborate to blend diverse funding sources, making clean energy investments more accessible and impactful. As the largest university-hosted event of its kind in the U.S., the summit brought together nearly 1,500 professionals from business, government, and academia to drive leadership and growth in the Southeast’s cleantech economy. It was a valuable opportunity to engage in insightful discussions, workshops, mentoring, and networking, all contributing to the future of clean technology.

 Worlds of Work

Lucy Chihandae and Myra Cobb-Davis represented us at the Worlds of Work (WoW) event on March 18, 2025. They connected with students to share insights on green careers, the work we do, and the impact of sustainable finance in our community. The event was a fantastic opportunity to inspire the next generation of professionals, and we thank MoCo CAP for hosting such an incredible event.

 Taking Nature Black Conference

Tyniah McDuffie and Myra Cobb-Davis attended Nature Forward’s Taking Nature Black Conference on March 5-8, 2025. Themed “Reclamation & Resilience,” the event brought together environmental leaders, advocates, and community members to explore the intersection of nature, justice, and resilience. As a proud sponsor, we were honored to support meaningful discussions on conservation, inclusion, and sustainable solutions, providing a valuable opportunity to connect, learn, and take action toward a more inclusive and resilient environmental movement.

 2025 Milken Institute Finance Forum

Rokas Beresniovas and Cindy McCabe attended the 2025 Milken Institute Finance Forum on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, where leaders, investors, and policymakers explored funding strategies for critical infrastructure and economic development. This year’s event addressed U.S. deployment and capacity challenges, emerging opportunities in international public finance, sustainable investing in infrastructure, and strategies for small business and community development. Hosted by the Milken Institute, the Forum spotlighted the 10,000 Communities Initiative and Geo-Economics Program, driving impactful, outcomes-based investments worldwide. It was a premier opportunity for cross-sector collaboration!
 Mobilize Frederick’s Third Annual Climate Summit
Our team had an engaging and productive experience at Mobilize Frederick’s Third Annual Climate Summit on February 28 and March 1, 2025. From thought-provoking keynotes to hands-on sessions on electrification, home energy efficiency, and climate solutions, the event was filled with valuable insights and discussions. With over 400 attendees—including elected officials, business leaders, and community changemakers—the summit provided an excellent opportunity to connect, collaborate, and explore new strategies for advancing a more sustainable future.

 Takoma Park Earth Day Celebration
Join us Saturday, April 26, 2025, for the Takoma Park Earth Day Celebration in honor of Earth Month! The City of Takoma Park will host this event in the Sligo Creek Stream Valley Park, featuring exhibitors from city departments and local environmental partners near the new playground at Houston and Kennebec Ave. Snow cones, face painting, art activities, and educational materials about sustainability programs will be available for the whole family. Don’t miss the EV showcase, a guided tree walk, and opportunities to learn about various environmental involvement opportunities in our community.

 Montgomery County Food Truck Electrification Pilot Applications Open

Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is accepting applications for the Food Truck Generator Electrification Pilot Program.

Through this program, mobile food service businesses (food truck and trailers) are that are licensed in Montgomery County, MD can receive incentives to purchase and install battery power systems, thanks to a generous grant from the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA). Battery power systems will save you money on fuel and maintenance while reducing noise and air pollution.

There are two options for receiving incentives.
• Loan Incentive Option: Receive a zero-interest, 24-month loan for up to $25,000 plus $1,000 installation incentive. Or,
• Direct Payment Option: Receive 20% of the cost of equipment and installation up to $5,000.

Your Next Steps to Get Incentives
You have previously expressed interest in this program and provided some information about your business. To apply for the program, please complete the Application Form now available on the program website. El formulario de solicitud también está disponible en español.

You will be asked for more information than in the information form you completed initially. After submitting the form, DEP will confirm your eligibility and connect you with participating vendors to receive quotes for battery power system equipment and installation. You must meet all eligibility requirements and follow program instructions to receive incentives. You must also qualify for financing with Climate First Bank to receive the Loan Incentive Option.
