About this Event
Thanks to the DC Department of Energy and the Environment’s 2018 Solar for All Innovation and Expansion Grant, PEER Consulting and New Columbia Solar were able to successfully develop, construct, finance, and operate a 108.2 kW solar installation at Lightview Cooperative.
With the Solar for All award, PEER Consulting and New Columbia Solar were able to bring renewable energy to the cooperative and the surrounding community. This program enabled the team to not only provide free energy to low-income residents in the area but also replace portions of the roof at no cost to the customer. PEER Consultants has successfully identified over 100 LMI residents to receive the energy generated by this system at no cost. The energy distributed from this system is estimated to reduce an enrolled household’s electricity costs by 50-120 percent of an average residential electricity bill.
Speakers to include:
Brandon Todd, Ward 4 Councilmember
Ronnie Dampier, Chief of Staff for the Deputy Mayor’s Office
Tommy Wells, Director of DC Department of Energy & Environment
Kathy Arnold, Lightview Board Member and Resident
Dr. Lilia A. Abron, President & CEO PEER Consultants, P.C., Ph.D., P.E., BCEE
Michael J. Healy, Co-Founder & CEO of New Columbia Solar
A ribbon-cutting to celebrate the completion of the solar system at Lightview Cooperative with special thanks to the organizations involved
