New Funding for PV Recycling and Perovskites

The Photovoltaics Research and Development funding opportunity will award $29 million, $10 million of which will come from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, for projects that make PV more recyclable, reduce manufacturing costs, and advance the manufacturing of PV cells from perovskites. Academic institutions, for- and not-for-profit businesses, and state and local governments are all eligible to apply. DOE encourages applications and teams from minority-serving institutions, minority-owned businesses, tribal entities, community colleges, or entities located in underserved communities. Mandatory letters of intent are due by Aug. 3 at 5 p.m. ET.

Last Call for the Perovskite Startup Prize

Hurry! There is still time to apply for the American-Made Perovskite Startup Prize to accelerate the development and manufacturing of perovskite solar cells. Competitors who advance to the next stage of the prize will receive $200,000. Assemble your team and apply by Jul. 28.

Reminder: Apply for Funding to Study Locally Based Energy

Full applications are due Aug. 1 at 5 p.m. ET for the Energyshed: Exploring Place‐Based Generation funding opportunity. Utilities, local governments, and community-based organizations can develop tools to help communities understand the implications of consuming clean energy that they generate locally.

Deadline Approaching for Funding to Study Agriculture and Solar

Applicants who submitted concept papers have until Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. ET to submit full applications for the Foundational Agrivoltaic Research for Megawatt Scale funding opportunity. SETO is interested in projects that partner with farmers who are pursuing climate-smart and sustainable agriculture to examine how the co-location of agriculture and solar energy can scale up to provide new economic opportunities to farmers, rural communities, and the solar industry.
