For years, Evergreen and the climate movement fought tirelessly for a Climate Corps. And last September, the Biden administration took Evergreen’s specific recommendations and delivered.

 

The American Climate Corps (ACC) is a true game-changer in the fight against the climate crisis. The program will create 20,000 good-paying jobs for young people in the clean energy economy.

Since President Biden’s announcement, nearly 50,000 people from across the U.S. have signed up to learn more about the ACC. Now, the White House is hosting their first virtual listening session on the ACC.

Over the course of four listening sessions, the Biden administration wants to hear your ideas about how to make this program a success, and you can sign up for the first one held tomorrow, Thursday, January 11, 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT.

I’m definitely going to be there, and if you join me, you’ll hear from climate champs like Sen. Ed Markey and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, learn more about the program, and get to share your ideas on how we can build a successful ACC that delivers for our communities and our climate.

This is our chance to ensure this program serves our collective needs and leaves no one behind.

President Biden is announcing a new initiative to train young people in high-demand skills for jobs in the clean energy economy. The American Climate Corps will put a new generation of Americans to work conserving our lands and waters, bolstering community resilience, advancing environmental justice, deploying clean energy, implementing energy efficient technologies, and tackling climate change. American Climate Corps members will gain the skills necessary to access good-paying jobs that are aligned with high-quality employment opportunities after they complete their paid training or service program.
