Today, governors met in Philadelphia to discuss rising electricity prices and urge PJM Interconnection (PJM) to give states a stronger role in planning the future of the country’s largest power grid. In response, Evergreen Action Deputy State Policy Director Julia Kortrey released the following statement:

“Today’s summit makes one thing clear: the spotlight is squarely on PJM for rising utility bills. For too long, PJM has put member profits ahead of families’ bills and left clean energy stuck in the queue. We applaud Governor Shapiro and the bipartisan coalition of governors for demanding real action on the queue and governance—and making it clear that they are willing to leave PJM altogether if it doesn’t deliver. Giving states a meaningful voice—just as other regions already do—is essential to building a more affordable, reliable, and functional grid. The question now is whether PJM will finally listen and take responsibility for fixing the cost crisis it helped create.”
