Today, there are over 5 million U.S. households with rooftop solar systems and over 1.2 million subscribed to community solar, meaning a growing number of consumers are opting for solar energy and accessing lower-cost electricity. However, the rapid adoption of solar also brings unique challenges. Recent reports show some consumers feel frustration, confusion, and lack of trust in the distributed solar industry.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) is hosting a webinar to share research and development efforts to improve the customer experience, discuss what kinds of problems consumers are facing, steps the government is taking to deter deceptive business practices, and how the industry is developing standards that can protect consumers from harm. SETO will also share updates on how DOE is supporting the advancement and deployment of solar technology broadly.
