Law Appropriates $1.6 Billion to EDA
President Biden recently signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023, which appropriates $1.6 billion to EDA for Fiscal Year 2023 programming, administration, and oversight.
The funding will allow EDA to expand its targeted and transformational economic development investments, including funding the Tech Hubs and RECOMPETES Pilot programs, expanding our Build to Scale and STEM Talent Challenges, supporting communities impacted by natural disasters, and expanding our Economic Development Assistance programs. 32 grantees of EDA’s Good Jobs Challenge gathered in Washington, D.C. to focus on collaboration and developing strong workforce systems in their regions. Highlighted by remarks from three Cabinet members and a Fortune 500 CEO, the 2022 Good Jobs Challenge Convening provided grantees with access to experts in the workforce field and opportunities to build connections with each other. Honoring Native American Heritage Month
The White House, the Department of Commerce and EDA hosted a series of events in honor of Native American Heritage Month, welcoming Tribal leaders to Washington, DC. EDA’s Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) program helps support small businesses throughout the country. EDA highlighted operators of EDA-capitalized RLFs and small- and medium-sized businesses that have received loans through the program during RLF Week on social media.
