Greetings Ronald,
Here’s what’s new at Green The Church.
Proposal to Reduce Harmful Emissions
President Biden and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently issued an updated draft rule to cut methane and other harmful pollutants from oil and gas operations across the US. This proposal is an important step towards addressing the climate crisis, protecting the health and safety of communities across the country, and prioritizing the creation of quality, family-sustaining jobs.
President Biden’s address at the 27th Conference of the Parties, and after a collective of groups which represent millions of people across the country and around the world sent him a letter urging the swift release of the draft methane proposal.
We look forward to digging into the full text of the proposal, and participating in a public engagement process to ensure we have the strongest possible safeguards in place to tackle climate change and protect public health. This announcement came just ahead ofGTC at the Conference of National Black Churches Consultation
Rev. Dr. Ambrose Carroll will be a speaker at the 2022 Conference of National Black Churches (CNBC) Annual National Consultation. This is the most influential ecumenical event for clergy of color and brings together the top religious leaders of the largest historically Black denominations. They are joined by the leaders of more than 5,000 mainstream religious bodies, business, non-profit and thought leaders, policy makers, community activists and social justice advocates to address some of the country’s most significant crisis related to COVID-19 and race. The 2022 Consultation is a special hybrid event and the funding generated through this effort will support the implementation of CNBC programmatic work focusing on COVID-19 and variants, general vaccine education, voter education, social justice, and gun violence. CNBC continues to confront the devastating impact that COVID-19 has had on our communities, the continuing and very real damage of systemic racism and the fear that our community has of facing our mental health. CNBC invites you to participate in this groundbreaking cross-racial gathering as we come together to respond to the continuing devastating impacts of COVID-19 and the violence of racism that is wreaking havoc on America.
