Dear Ronald,
YOU can learn how to lobby for the climate. Join us Thurs, 1/25. SIGN UP NOW! |
We are busy getting ready for our big lobby night in February, where we’ll speak directly with our legislators about the bills we need to pass to keep Maryland on track on climate. Our priorities for 2024 include bills that will make polluters pay for the climate impacts they’ve caused, mandate all-electric new buildings, stop funding pollution as renewable energy, and improve solar siting.
With the Maryland legislative session underway, each of us should have a personalized 30-second pitch that explains who we are, why we care, and what specific legislation we’re advocating for. We want to help YOU be a more effective advocate for the climate in Maryland. Sign up to learn how.
We have a heavy lift in 2024 if Maryland is going to meet our ambitious climate targets. Our legislative priority is the Responding to Emergency Needs from Extreme Weather (RENEW) Act which will provide money to communities to respond to climate catastrophes, but there’s more we’ll be fighting for, too. The clean-energy transition is already well underway, but we must make smart investments that prepare our communities to access clean energy infrastructure and we need to make sure that the polluters who caused these problems pay for the solutions we need. We have to STOP building infrastructure that will put us in debt to fossil fuels for decades to come and we need to build WAY more solar and wind generation capacity.
To be successful in the Maryland legislature this year, we need to build teams of constituents who will meet with and build a relationship with key decision-makers. Help us educate them and put them on notice that you — their constituents — care deeply about these climate issues.
