MCEC Program Comes In-House
Recently, the Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) took over full administration of the Maryland Property Assessed Clean Energy (MDPACE) Loan Program, ushering in a new era for the commercial lending program. This move streamlines the MDPACE program by eliminating intermediaries and providing applicants with direct access to MCEC Procurement and Technical Services and additional financing options that allow for stacking. When Money Multiplies: The MCEC Effect
Maryland Energy Talk released an episode of its podcast featuring members of the Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) team. Kathy Magruder, MCEC Executive Director, and Keith Wang, MCEC Finance Manager, joined Jamie DeMarco to discuss the history of MCEC and how it has been able to advance the adoption of clean energy and climate mitigation strategies by leveraging public funds into $239.6 million of private investment. Kathy's Keynote

Kathy Magruder, Executive Director of the Maryland Clean Energy Center, had the opportunity to deliver the keynote address at the 2025 Potomac Edison Energy Efficiency Summit in Frederick. During her presentation, Kathy discussed the need to sustainably balance the supply and demand for electricity, which includes the continued integration of solar, wind, battery, hydro, nuclear, and geothermal into Maryland’s energy mix.

Green for Local Governments

The Maryland Energy Administration is now accepting applications for its Local Government Energy Modernization (L-GEM) Program. This $64 million program aims to support local governments as they engage in sustainable, long-term clean energy and energy efficient projects that lead to reduced energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions, increased cost savings, and robust clean energy and economic development. Green & Healthy Hospitals
Standard Solar, a photovoltaic developer based in Rockville, completed a commercial Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with an unnamed health care system based in Maryland. Under the PPA, electricity generated by the 13.7-MW Costen Solar Farm in Pocomoke City will be supplied to facilities owned and operated by the health care system. You can read more here.

Using Green to Grow: Fall Harvest & Solar Celebration
Join the Montgomery County Green Bank on October 4 for its Fall Harvest & Solar Celebration at One Acre Farm in Dickerson, MD. This family-friendly event will give residents a look into the 34-acre family-owned farm, which uses a 28 kW solar PV system to power the farm and grow organic vegetables for the local community. Solar Training for Realtors
The Maryland Association of Realtors is hosting its annual conference in Ocean City on October 20-23. Themed, Charting New Waters, the conference will explore emerging trends in real estate markets, including the benefits of solar, the rise of AI, and more! The Maryland Clean Energy Center will present a session to provide real estate professionals with essential knowledge about solar energy including insights into buying and selling properties with solar installations, addressing maintenance, utility costs, roof considerations, and various purchase options.
