The AGOA Civil Society Organization Network and partners organized AGOA Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill on July 23rd, 2024. The event was co-sponsored by The Honorable Jonathan Jackson, United States Representative, 1st District of Illinois (D), and The Honorable Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, United States Representative, 20th District of Florida ( D).

AGOA Advocacy Day led up to the 21st U.S.- Sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum (AGOA Forum), and civil society convened to join the conversation
and continue our advocacy for the timely renewal of AGOA by the 118th Congress.
The event included meetings with Members of Congress by AGOA CSO Network members, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Trade Ministers, and other stakeholders to deliver our signed petition and advocate for the Timely Reauthorization and Enhancement of AGOA Beyond 2025 by the 118th Congress.

AGOA Forum
21st U.S. – Sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Forum
|
|
The AGOA Forum took place July 24-26, 2024, at the U.S. State Department and select venues throughout Washington, DC. The theme was Beyond 2025: Reimagining AGOA for an Inclusive, sustainable, and Prosperous Tomorrow. The agenda included an African Trade Ministers’ Consultative meeting, a Private Sector, a Civil Society and Organized Labor gathering, and the Ministerial Session.
Chairman Oladeinde participated in Session #4 of the Civil Society meeting and was privileged to be accredited to attend the Ministerial Session at the State Department. |

About the AGOA CSO Network |
|
The AGOA Civil Society Network is a consortium of non-governmental organizations, (NGOs) and other groups in the United States and Africa working to facilitate the successful application of the AGOA trade bill for the benefit of small business in the US, and Africa.
The Network was established by the 102 member organizations from the United States, Mauritius, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Namibia, Mali, Lesotho and the Democratic Republic of Congo that were in attendance during the AGOA Civil Society Forum on January 17, 2003, in Phoenix, Mauritius.

The AGOA CSO Network’s focus is on increasing the volume and quality of African exports under AGOA and educating stakeholders on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean on this trade policy and its advantages.
