Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator Announces First Investment Through Climate Technology Founders Fund

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator (MEIA), a program of the Maryland Clean Energy Center, announced its first investment through the Climate Technology Founders Fund (CTFF) in High-T Tech. Based in Beltsville, Maryland. The startup develops advanced catalysts and battery materials using a patented Ultrafast High-Temperature Sintering (UHS) process. This investment is part of the CTFF, which supports minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses that create solutions to address climate change and accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy in Maryland.

High-T Tech has created a process that produces materials for batteries and industrial equipment much faster, more efficiently, and more sustainably than traditional methods. Their approach allows them to utilize new materials that are stronger, more durable, and less expensive, while using less energy and fewer scarce resources.

“This inaugural investment from the Climate Technology Founders Fund marks a pivotal moment for the program and the commitment to fostering diverse leadership in the climate tech sector,” said Ben Margolis, Director of MEIA. “By supporting innovators like High-T Tech, we are not only advancing cutting-edge technology but also ensuring that the clean energy transition in Maryland is inclusive and economically transformative.”

MEIA has invested $75,000 in High-T Tech, part of a total of $1.25 million funding round. This funding will support the company in completing a pilot manufacturing line, expanding its technical and commercial team, and enabling early customer testing and validation. This investment is designed to advance High-T Tech’s technology to its next development milestone, bringing it closer to commercial deployment.

“The support from MEIA has been instrumental to our growth since we entered the Launchpad program in 2020,” said Scott Purnell, CEO of High-T Tech. “This investment allows us to scale our manufacturing capabilities and move one step closer to providing the sustainable materials needed to power a cleaner future.”

High-T Tech began its journey in MEIA’s Launchpad program in 2020, and this investment marks the next phase of the company’s growth.
