Onsite Energy Technical Assistance Partnerships
EERE’s Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office announced a $23 million funding opportunity that will establish a regional network of Technical Assistance Partnerships to help industrial facilities and other large energy users increase the adoption of onsite energy technologies. Applications are due by April 21.

DOE Announces Solar District Cup Finalist Teams
DOE announced that the selection of 45 teams from 39 schools as finalists in the Solar District Cup Collegiate Design Competition. The competition challenges participants to design and model distributed energy systems for a campus or urban district, giving them practice with industry tools and procedures as they prepare for careers in the renewable energy industry.

Gas Capture Capability Enables Production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel Molecule
Sustainable aviation fuels are comparable in performance to traditional jet fuels but producing these renewable fuels can be a tricky process. Now, the Advanced Biofuels and Bioproducts Process Development Unit, funded by EERE’s Bioenergy Technology Office, has engineered a process to eliminate some of the obstacles to efficient, large-scale production.
The idea of using biomass or non-recyclable materials to generate power has been around for a long time but developing consistent feedstocks to produce fuels economically comparable to coal has been a daunting challenge. Researchers have pioneered a technique for combining non-recyclable plastics and paper fiber that would otherwise end up in landfills to form pellets with an energy content similar to coal.

DOE Announced First Round of Community Clean Energy Coalition Prize Winners
DOE awarded ten teams $30,000 each in the first phase of the inaugural American-Made Community Clean Energy Coalition Prize (CCEC). The CCEC competition fosters community-level partnerships between organizations working to overcome local energy challenges.

Apply for the New DOE Low-Income Community Solar Fellowship
DOE launched the Low-Income Community Solar and Energy Assistance Fellowship, which offers energy professionals the opportunity to work with state and regional organizations to make community solar subscriptions more accessible to low-income households. The two-year fellowship will support pilot testing of the Community Solar Subscription Tool in three regions. Applications are due by March 6.
